Sailing 101 Point of Sail

 This is called the Point of sail.

Regions for different rig settings
The first diagram is to distinguish the several basic ways of sailing. and how according to your direction you are suppose to set the Main Sail and Jib.
This example shows the heading of the boat and settings of the main sail and jib and how much slack you should give the sails according to the direction of the wind.
